Where is the Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™ actually made?
Our Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™ is hand crafted, from start to finish, right here in McLoud, Oklahoma. It is crafted of USA made materials, including the nonskid backing, which is made in Tennessee.

How does the Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™ work?
The Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™ is specifically used for kneading bread, rolling out doughs like biscuits, scones and rolled cookies and for cutting cookies with cookie cutters, biscuits with biscuit cutters and slicing noodles. It is not intended for use in a hot oven, for extended contact with sticky doughs, such as in rising, or for mixing doughs and adding ingredients like water to a dough and etc. To use the Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™, liberally flour the surface and rub the flour into the cloth with the palm of your hand or with a rolling pin. The type of dough determines the amount of flour with each use. For example, bread dough or sticky biscuit dough will require more flour than pie crust dough.

Does the Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™ include the nonskid mat in the price?
Yes. The pastry cloth and pad come packaged together.

How is the edge of the Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™ finished?
We have discontinued the frayed hem that was the original finish of our Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™. A tailored and mitered hem is the default hem on all of our cloths. However, you can call and request the original frayed hem or make a note of your request in the "comments" box from PayPal when ordering online.

How do I know what size Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™ to order?
First, determine the size of the surface on which you will be working. Do you want to cover it or do you just need enough coverage for a small project? The 18 x 24 pastry cloth is for small kitchens like in travel trailers, apartments and for camping and is only offered in our gift sets. The 24 x 24 pastry cloth is for the most common projects like pie crusts and biscuits and the 30 x 30 and larger are for large projects like cinnamon rolls, Pavitica and large batches of cookies. For the cook who uses a countertop but who likes to spread projects down the length of the countertop, we offer the 24 x 30 and the 24 x 36.

How do I know what weight Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™ to order?
The Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™ is offered in three different weights:
  • The original 10 oz. cloth is great for the occasional baker and will last many years.
  • The 11.5 oz cloth is a tighter weave with more threads per square inch and is perfect for the regular baker who wants a little heavier surface.
  • The 15 oz cloth is very heavy and is meant to last many years under continual use.
  • All of these pastry cloths come with the nonskid mat.

What is the "adage" and what is the purpose?
We have created original blessings and truths both sweet and humorous that reflect something about cooking, as well as our great state of Oklahoma. These sayings are put on the hangtag that is attached with gingham ribbon onto each Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™. They make a fun addition to the pastry cloth if you plan on giving it as a gift. At the website, you can choose which adage you would like to include.

How do I care for my pastry cloth?
Keep your pastry cloth floured by rubbing flour in by hand or with a rolling pin. After use, simply shake out excess flour, fold it and place it in its plastic bag and store in the freezer. Rub in a little flour with each use. You will learn to gauge how much flour you will need depending on the dough you are rolling. You can use your cloth over and over without washing, until it becomes oily or heavily soiled. Wash your pastry cloth in warm water and HANG TO DRY. Do not dry it in a dryer. Your pastry cloth can be ironed with a steam iron.

From what is the Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™ made?
Every pastry cloth is hand-crafted of 100% all-natural cotton. The weight of the cotton in our original Oklahoma Pastry Cloth™ is 10 ounces per yard. Our new, heavier weight cloths are made of 11.5 oz per yard cotton and 15 oz per yard cotton. The non-skid mat is made of rubber and is manufactured in the United States. Every pastry cloth is pre-washed and pre-shrunk, pressed and folded. Each Oklahoma Pastry Cloth is identified by the signature, hand-designed "Sooner Schooner" patch affixed at the corner.

How soon can I expect my order to be shipped?
As stated above, every pastry cloth is hand crafted. Turn around time from order to shipping is usually 2-4 days except during the holiday season from October through the first week in January. Many custom orders are placed at that time, which take more time. All orders are filled "first come, first serve". During the holiday season, rush orders require an additional $10 charge. Custom orders can have up to a two week turnaround.

    How are orders shipped?
Most orders are shipped by US Postal Service Priority. Large orders may require FedEx shipping. All orders are insured and you should receive an email from the postal service notifying you of shipping with a tracking number. Be sure to check your SPAM folder for an email if you do not receive one.

I have a special size that I need. Can I order a pastry cloth in a custom size?
Yes, just call at 405-275-5639 and explain what you require. We accept payment by credit card over the phone.
